(Tan portion appears on the pages for both Depa, and Eeth Koth.)

After making a page honoring Darth Vader, I thought it only appropriate to also make tributes to my two favorite Jedi Masters, Eeth Koth and Depa Billaba.

Depa and Eeth have always gone together to me. I discovered them the same way, at the same time, they're my two favorite Jedi of all time, and they even sat right next to each other on the Jedi Council! Even most of what I have to say about them appears on both of their pages. But to lump them both into one "tribute" page would be insulting to both of them. So I have created a page for each of them, because they deserve to be respected separately.

Depa Billaba and Eeth Koth were both members of the Jedi Council in the last days of the Order, and the Old Republic. Though Depa had a serious, scarring incident on Haruun Kal 6 months into the war, and neither one of them sat on the Council anymore, they are believed to have been members of the Order until its very last days.

Both Depa and Eeth were presumed killed in the Jedi Purge, but proof of this has not been found. And I have my own ideas of what happened to them. Perhaps someday, you will be able to read these ideas, but for now, let's just say that Depa and Eeth are still out there somewhere. I can feel it.

A long time ago, I acquired a game called "A Jedi's Path," which was based, fittingly, upon a Jedi's life. It was fun to play and all, but little did I know that it would lead me to the two Jedi I now love the most.

During the game, each player, or "Padawan" would receive a Jedi Master, which were real Jedi Masters represented by a picture and a little information printed on a game card. Most of the Masters were members of the Jedi Council just before the Clone Wars. You would choose a Master at random, and get a new one for each game you played. Remarkably, my opponent and I kept choosing the same Masters game after game. We wouldn't get them every time, of course, but they showed up much more often than any of the others. I would always end up with Depa Billaba, and she would always get Eeth Koth.

We chose them so many times that we began to call them "our Masters" all the time--even in real life--and we began to get attached to them. Eventually, we discarded the "randomly choosing" rule and decided to keep Depa and Eeth as our Masters every time we played.

The reason I first liked Depa was because of the way she looked--because she was a Chalactan, and that she was so dedicated to the Chalactan culture. That, and the fact that her card said she sought to advance all aspects of her training, rather than being strong in one or two skills. I still like her for the same two reasons, only now I like her in a more personal way, as it always goes.

I've studied everything about Depa that I can, but it's impossible for me to know every single thing about her history. I've done my best in lumping together everything I do know, and putting it into a biography. Of course, I'm still open to learning more about her, if I have the opportunity, so maybe one day the biography can be longer and more detailed.

Depa was born on Chalacta, but her family was killed by space pirates when she was only 6 months old. She was rescued from the same pirates by a Jedi Master named Mace Windu. Windu sensed that she was strong in the Force, and he took her back to Coruscant with him, where she was admitted into the Jedi Order.

When she was old enough to receive a Jedi Master, Mace Windu became her master, and he trained her until knighthood.

Depa later became a Jedi Master herself, and she even sat on the High Jedi Council. She sat on the left of Council chamber's entrance, and on her left was Zabrak Jedi Master Eeth Koth. She was one of the twelve Jedi who witnessed Master Qui-Gon Jinn's request for the training of Anakin Skywalker, and his testing. She also attended Jinn's funeral and Naboo's victory parade.

Depa has been noted many times as being a "strong, yet serene presence" on the council. Her spirituality that comes from her species allowed her to be very attuned to the minds of her fellow council members.

During the battle of Geonosis at the start of the Clone Wars, Depa stayed at the Temple to look after the Jedi Younglings as the majority of the other Jedi at the temple were dispatched to fight and rescue Master Obi-Wan Kenobi from Geonosis.

About 6 months into the war, Depa was sent on a mission to her former master's homworld of Haruun Kal. Unfortunately, in the midst of the conflict and evil on Haruun Kal, Depa was influenced by the Dark Side and nearly fell into darkness forever. She was behind the deaths of many people, and even attempted to take her own life. However, she did her best to stay true to the Jedi Code, and trying to fight the Dark Side off literally drove her crazy. She was rescued by her former master, Mace Windu, who had also felt the seduction of the Dark Side but was able to resist it; and she was brought back to the Jedi Temple catatonic.

It was believed that she never recovered from her catatonia and died from it, or was killed in the Jedi Purge, but no proof of this can be found.

Depa was one of the three known Jedi who used a lightsaber techinque called Vaapad. She has been seen with and/or mentioned to have had blue, yellow, green, and even red lightsabers. It is unknown at this time what her preferred, or most used, blade color was. She has also been rumored to have carried two lightsabers, but this isn't known for certain either. It is also unknown who Depa's Padawan was.

Depa embraced the traditional culture of Chalacta in honor of her deceased parents. Between her eyes, and on her forehead, were two golden beads called Chalactan Marks of Illumination, which are native of her species. The Marks of Illumination symbolize spirituality. During the incident on Haruun Kal, Depa ripped the Marks of Illumination from her face, leaving physical scars to match the emotional ones she would have from then on. Her long black hair is worn in two or four braids looped behind her head, in a traditional Chalactan hairstyle.

Her robes resembled the traditional Jedi robes, having a long brown robe over tan clothing. Her robe was more unique, though, as it didn't open in the middle and could be considered more of a dress than an actual robe; and she wore a separate tan dress underneath, instead of the traditional tunics and tabards.
